An interesting week of Mozart, parrots, dance and more
Every day in London is an adventure! On Wednesday, Sophie and I tried out a Mini Mozart class for kids in the Highgate neighborhood (where Sting lives I am told). The class, geared for toddlers, has a live piano and violin. Sophie loved it! It was a fun diversion from our usual activities and one we will try out again. And I managed to get there via the tube without incident, always a plus! After the class it was so gorgeous out that we decided to have a quick play at the park where we ran into some friends. Sophie and her friend Justin played while his mum and I visited. They graciously invited us to lunch with them and Justin's grandparent's who were in town from New York. We ate lunch outside at a restaurant close by called Freemasons. It was so nice to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air without mosquitoes!
Thursday was the first time I used a babysitter in London. Vesy came highly recommended from Justin's mum and was available to watch Sophie while I attended a board meeting of the Hampstead Women's Club. I will officially be the HWC board next year as I am co-editing the Club's monthly newsletter. I was so nervous to leave Sophie, but Vesy was wonderful and Sophie warmed up to her quickly and I felt very comfortable leaving Sophie in her care. Sophie cried a bit but clung on to Vesy when I left. Of course it was only a few hours but I had to call and see how it was going and I could hear Sophie in the background talking and playing. When I got back to the flat Vesy was holding her and she actually paused and thought for a second before coming to me! It was a nice break for the both of us! After supper on Thursday, Sophie and I took a walk to go to the park and we saw the wild parrots in the Hampstead Heath. They are gorgeous! So brilliant green and yellow, with a unique sound and long tails, once you see them it is hard to miss them. We also saw a mandarin duck a unique and interesting looking bird.
On Friday, we were joined by Sophie's friend Eva and her mum to try out a new dance class in the Highgate area called Diddi Dance. Sophie just loved it! She participated so nicely and really was mesmerized by all the movements and challenges of the class. We hope to attend this again as well! And, since we were fortunate to have another beautiful day without any threat of rain us gals decided to enjoy a picnic lunch at the Heath. What a fantastic way to end the week!
