A busy day for everyone

Life is always unpredictable...this is a bit of a bummer blog...sorry...

Jeremy got a sad call on Friday that his stepfather's dad had passed away unexpectedly. After a lot of discussion we decided that Jeremy would travel back to the states the next day to attend the funeral and help with family matters. Sophie and I have stayed in London as I am sick and we have a 10 day holiday in Hungary, Austria and Czech Republic the day after Jeremy returns. It seemed impossible for all three of us travel the next day, and go on our holiday after that, so we got Jeremy's plane tickets and him on the plane for an international flight within 16 hours, not bad. I am glad that he was able to get home and be with Mick and his step brothers and sisters, wish Sophie and I could have made it. More bad news today that Jeremy's sister's mother-in-law passed away last night too. Our sympathy and thoughts are with Mick's family and Michelle and Brad's family.

Sophie and I had a busy day on Saturday after daddy left we made our way to a Halloween party where Sophie was dressed as a cute witch, and she was cute! The hat was not going on her head though, but she did let me put in some black barretts to accessorize the costume. After a costume parade up and down the high street collecting a few treats from mum's on the route, it was time for Sophie's first cinema experience. On the big screen at the Everyman Cinema was Charlie Brown's Halloween show and Winnie the Boo! She was wide eyed watching both shows, sitting in her chair just mesmerized by the screen. Needless to say, she had a great time. This was our first family event with the Hampstead Women's Club and it was sold it, glad we were able to attend.

After this party, it was back to our flat for a costume change and on to our next party which was a birthday party for Sophie's best friends (Sam and Harry) older brother and sister, Meg and Jake, who she also adores. Sophie got to be a fairy princess in her pink leotard, tights, tutu, and of course new wings, a wand, and hairband, she even let me put pigtails in! What a girlie girl!

The party was fantastic, Sophie had such a nice time even without getting a nap in. She is in love with the entertainer, Mr. Tickles, she has seen him at another birthday party and really thinks he is something. He does a great job of keeping the kids entertained. There was also a face painter at the party. I wasn't sure Sophie would do it, but she is REALLY into mermaids at the moment and selected that to be painted on her face. She sat so nicely for the painter and even let her put sprinkles on her face! It was so cute, she loved it and couldn't stop looking in the mirror at herself. The woman had to gently pull the mirror away from her--hilarious! And, the cakes--oh the cakes were amazing! The Cake Store is really fantastic, check out the link to see their cakes. Jake had a bat man cake and Meg a castle, adorable! And, they tasted great! Sophie had enough cake to last a month. We helped clean up after the party and she kept sneaking over to the table where the cakes were and eating a little bit while I swept the floor, little sneaker! Overall, I tried to make the day into the best one we could have considering the circumstances. In Sophie's eyes I think it was a success.
