Preparing for London!

Our move to London actually starting in spring 2005 when Jeremy got the opportunity to interview for a position in the UK office with Grant Thronton. We knew this was an opportunity of a lifetime that we could not pass up. Immediately we started preparing for this opportunity if it became a reality, which it did in June.

SELLING OUR HOUSE:
Thankfully we had completed all major projects and rennovation on our house and it was in the best shape it could be to be put on the market. We had gone through all the pre-steps of getting ready to sell our house and were one week away from putting it on the market when I got an interesting call. Our neighbors had sold their house a few months earlier (before we knew about the London opportunity). A gal who was looking at it came over to talk to me while I was doing yard work about the neighborhood and area. I told her we loved it and had no plans of leaving anytime soon. She was very nice, but was not the one who purchased our neighbor's house. A few months later another neighbor was purchasing a custom item at the Home Depot. When she wrote down her address, the gal working said she had looked at a house in our cul-de-sac and loved the area. Our neighbor told her that someone else in the cul-de-sac was planning on moving to London and selling their house. When she asked which house, the gal at Home Depot realized that I was the one she had talked with the day she viewed the other house (small world!). Our neighbor gave her our phone number. She called and asked if she could come look at the house before we put it on the market. We happily obliged. And, after two viewings she made an offer over the 4th of July weekend and is currently the new owner.

FINDING A NEW HOME FOR MAX:
Sadly, we also had to find a new home for our dog Maximillian, which we did in June. While this was hard and very emotional it was the best thing to do. Max would not be very happy in a small flat with no yard to run around in. We know that he is in a good home getting lots of love and attention.

DONATIONS:
On a lighter note it felt great to really purge "stuff" and made 3 truckfuls of donations to local charities, including a huge donation to the Lino Lakes Mom's Club annual garage sale. It will be interesting to see what we kept and probably shouldn't have when we get back in two years... What a great way to get rid of stuff you don't need, think would this be something I would send overseas when you have a limited amount of what you can send OR will I use/wear this again in 2 years?
