Halloween in London
Halloween isn't celebrated in Britain like it is in the states, but it is becoming more popular. Sophie actually went trick or treating on the Sunday before Halloween with neighbor kids on the four streets on and near our flat (South Hill Park, Parliament Hill, Tanza and Nassington). It was the second annual event coordinated by my friend Tracy for kids under 5. It included about 10 families or so, each family handing out candy as we got to their flat. The kids had a great time getting their treats. Sophie really got the hang of it and was making her way up with the rest of the kids. Given her choice of costume, she chose to be a real princess, like Dora the Explorer, what you see is what mum threw together in under 5 minutes and she loved it!
We had just gotten back from our 10 day holiday an hour before we went on this outing. Sophie was a little tired but totally rallied for the candy! It was just the right amount of houses to visit and the right amount of candy, all done in the daylight as well. Thanks to all the families who participated! It was great fun! Jeremy let the kids take as much from our bowl as they could hold--hilarious to see this in action~! 
On the night of Halloween we actually got so many trick or treaters that we ran out of candy! We had to close up early, shut off the lights and "hide" in our flat. I couldn't believe it! We had three big American bags of candy Jer had brought back when he was back in the states last. Granted we may have eaten some, how much is undetermined and then with the little kids event a few days before, we probably didn't have all that much, but we think we saw 50 kids come through! Mostly British kids as well! Very cool that they are starting to get the hang of this Halloween thing. Happy Halloween!
