London Butterfly House

Today we visited the London Butterfly House. I have wanted to visit there for some time and we happened to be in the area running an errand so it worked out nicely to make a day of it.

The London Butterfly House, situated in the historic grounds of Syon House at Syon Park, is a unique experience as you can walk amongst hundreds of free-flying tropical butterflies in a warm glasshouse environment. The London Butterfly House was opened in 1981 as the first of its kind. In addition to the The Tropical Garden that houses hundreds of free flying butterflies, there is also The Tropical Aviary and The Tropical Mini-Beasts area which are home to birds and insects from the many tropical countries of the world. There are many really colorful birds and the insects were very unique and fun to look at!

While I thought Sophie would get a huge kick out of free flying butterflys, Jeremy and I actually had more fun than I think Sophie did. We had a great time taking photos of the butterflys and birds, which was very difficult at times. Jeremy was dying of heat in the "warm" environment, but we quickly cooled off outside in the grey rainy day...fall is here! See all our photos from our visit at our Shutterfly account.
